SWAG17 - Connecting People of Christ with Children, Families & Countries in Need.
James, or JDix to his friends, was born in the Bronx, one of the five suburbs in New York. When he was seven, his parents moved to Queens after returning from vacation and realizing that all of their worldly possessions were destroyed in a house fire that was set by an arsonist. He and his siblings stayed at the Red Cross Shelter while his parents planned their next move. He learned a lot about the plight of the homeless a subject he once thought little about. This humbling experience truly gave him the passion to help others in need.
Before following his calling and passion, James worked for a major medical company where he was one of two manufacturing managers. He began his employment in 1997 as a machinist. Even though he never envisioned being in a managerial position, after hard work and dedication, he was promoted to manager. Things were just beginning to look up. Then, suddenly, after 14 years of service, he was informed he would be one of many getting laid off as a result of outsourcing. At that point, it was placed in his heart to pursue entrepreneurship while stepping back and letting God lead the way. Shortly after the earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, he watched the aftermath unfold on the evening news. The Lord spoke to him. SWAG17 was officially born.
James believes God provided him the vision to fulfill a need, and now he is determined and committed to cause change. He has a passion for social good, and it shows in how he spends his spare time. Volunteering for various organizations, whether it is walking for cancer, feeding the homeless or spending time in hospice or hospitals with a war veteran.
“People buy a story when they buy a brand”he states proudly. When you buy SWAG17, you are not buying a brand but helping to change the chapter in someone life. He donates part of SWAG17’s proceeds to the Red Cross where he also volunteer & Children cancer. James closes by saying the future goal of SWAG17 is to orchestrate a SWAG17 Cancer Walk.
